Wattson Power Junior Review

Wattson Power started late into hockey. He was 11 when he got his first pair of skates just to head over and play with his friends on local ice rinks. The first time he held on to a hockey stick he was instantly in love with the sport of hockey. Not even a couple months later he was a late entry into local minor league where he played as a forward. He could not keep up to the speed of the game as his skating needed a lot of work so he moved to Defense. He has been Defense ever since then and does not regret at all the decision to switch. He had a good shot for his age so he would spend time on the powerplay. He could move the puck pretty well but when he did get in a bad spot he wasnt the best at catching up to the play. When he was 12 years old he was put into a skating program where he learned how to push from side to side and use his body to generate better speed and take corners. This was big for Power as he came back in the next year and was instantly a more effective young player. He started to put up more points and getting more ice time in tougher defensive situations. With this his confidence was building and his love for the game intensified. He started watching YouTube video of strong skating and strong defensive players and really gained a lot of knowledge that he took into his own game. There is a lot of drive in Power's game. He always wants to get better and be the guy that the team relies on in tough situations and in offensive situations.

Power’s best season was at age 22 where he played 55 games and earned 89 points. This definitely put him on the map as a player to watch. He was named as a top 25 player to watch before the VHLM's 80th draft. Big words for a player that never ever gives up. At the age of 23 he has finally found his break in joining Mexico in the VHLM where he hopes to play very well and be noticed by VHLE and VHL teams alike. It is only a matter of time before he can display his skill set in the professional leagues. Remember the name Wattson Power.
