Swiss Central Gazzette

Since we last reported on the Janser brothers, their team added an other two losses to their tally. The Hounds had to face the Storm and the Houston Bulls.

The first game against the Storm was a close one with a final score of 4-3. The Hounds tied the first period and won the third with one goal advantage, however conceded the second period with 3-1. It was one of the few games were neither of the brothers shone be it defensively or offensively. The only event of not was that Marcel took a minor penalty for holding, which unfortunately resulted in a power play goal for the US team. Apart from that Dan and his younger sibling had +0 each, 0 points and 26:25 minutes (Dan) as well as 23:16 minutes (Marcel) on ice respectively. Three stars were Minnesota's RW number 5 (2g/0a), Hard (0g/2a) and Missisauga D-man number 3 (1g/0a). The Hounds' netminder outperformed Blanchette yet again (.909 vs .885) but due to the meagre offensive attempts of his team mates (26 vs 44 shots) this was not enough to take points home. The Hounds' powerplay was underwhelming (1/5) and the penalty kill was around average (4/6).

The second match was lost 6-4 against the Bulls. The game was conceded in the first three minutes of the first period, when Mississauga allowed three consecutive goals. They were not able to bounce back from this shock. Daniel had one assist in a breakaway to Lospenov 17:19 minutes into the second period and another one in a power play 2:02 into the third. The latter is noteworthy as it was a textbook play where Marcel faked a shot from the point, passed to Dan, who let lose a one timer and Bedard buried the reacted first on the rebound and buried the puck. Brigade-power at its best. Two minutes before the final horn Daniel scored a goal on a two-on-one rush when Bedard sucked up a lose puck and passed to the Swiss native. Dan had no problems to pull Hroch out of his crease and then lifted the puck backhand above his former team-mates' blocker. The three stars were Daniel (1g/2a), Miglaskems (2g/0a) and Godlander (1g/1a). The shots this time were almost equal (35 vs 37 in the Hounds' favour), but the netminder was this time significantly weaker than his opposing number (.829 vs .892). For once the Hounds power play was adequate (2/7) where as the penalty kill was sub par (3/6).

Marcel had 0g/1a, +0 and 25:41 minutes on ice (tied best with Bedard and Daniel)

Daniel had the aforementioned 1g/2a, +0, 3 hits (tied first with two others) and of course 25:41 minutes on ice

Daniel was interviewed after he received his first first star award. Daniel: 'Of course I am thrilled and honoured to be named man of the match. It is just a bitter-sweet success as our team lost a game we could have and should have won. It is a pity we slept the first five minutes of the game, otherwise we may have taken a point or two home. We need to be cleverer and ready from the first face-off if we want to reach the playoffs let alone get into the second round.'

The stats for the Jansers as follows:

Marcel: 17gp, 3g, 8a, 11pts, +0, 12 PIM, 9 hits, 44sb

Daniel: 17gp, 8g, 14a, 22pts, +0, 4 PIM, 36 hits, 10sb, 1gwg, 2ppg
