Daniel Janser 2,213
Swiss Central Gazzette When the Hounds had a lazy week last week with only one match played, they had a busy week this time around with three games pencilled in for them. Unfortunately, the Mississaugan team was not able to win one of them despite coming close twice against the Wild. The first match was lost 3-2. Both teams played very solid defensively, but the Saskatoon team made the bigger effort in the offensive department and deservedly won. This was also demonstrated that neither team could score in their powerplay attempts (three for the Hounds and four for the Wild). The Hounds tried everything and pulled their netminder, but to no avail. Both goalkeepers had a .875 saving rate. Ty Slaney was the best player for the Ontario outfit as he scored both goals and was named 2nd Star after Fingers (2g/0a) and before D-man number ten of the Wild (0g/1a). The brothers showed a low profile in this match, here are their stats: Marcel: 0g, 0a, -1 and 24:50 minutes played (tied first together with his elder brother and Hall) Daniel: 0g, 0a, -1, 4 hits (top of the team) and 24:50 minutes on ice The rematch was lost 6-5 after shootout. In the first powerplay of the game, Daniel reacted fastest on Lospenov's rebound and buried the goal somehow. It certainly was not a pretty goal but one born out of determination. Still in the first period Daniel scored another powerplay goal a la Brigade when Berard relayed Marcel's pass with a one-touch play to the Hounds' number 11 who sneaked unobserved by the defence to the far post. The Hounds went with a 3-2 lead into the first intermission. Unfortunately, the Wild had three unanswered goal in the second period to make it 3-5 into the second break. Marcel then scored in powerplay with a big slapshot from the blue line which was screened perfectly by his elder brother. Bedard and Lospenov were the assistants on this goal. The game went into overtime, where neither team scored. In the shootout all Hounds missed their shots and so it was Vladovechsenkchushkin who saved the day for the Wild. The three stars were Fingers (2g/1a), Jankowski (1g/2a) and Daniel (2g/0a). The Hounds netminder showed a rather average game (.800) and was bested by the Wild goalkeeper in that respect (.821). The Mississaugan power play was surprisingly effective (5/8) whereas the penalty kill was sub standard (3/6). Marcel: 1g, 1a, -1, 3sb and 29:17 minutes on ice (first together with Daniel and Bedard) Daniel: 2g, 0a, -1, 3 hits and also 29:17 minutes played On the third match against the Bulls, the Hounds were never near of winning a point and were outclassed in all the important statistics: Shots (23 vs 52), powerplay (0% vs 80%), boxplay (20% vs 100%) and saving rate (.846 vs .913). To absolutely no-one's surprise all the spots in the lime light were taken by Houston players. Delle Donne (2g/1a), Elsby (1g/3a) and glove dropper (1g/2a) were named three stars of the night. Marcel: 0g, 1a, +0 (how?) and 24:33 minutes played Daniel: 0g, 1a, +0 (seriously, how?) and 24:33 TOI (tied first with Marcel, Bedard and Hall) The Hounds are now tenth of the league and last of their conference. Not all is bad though. If they are just a bit more lucky in the Wild games they could easily gotten 1-2 points more there and if the Bulls did not score 4 goals in powerplay situations, the game would be much tighter (4-2 was the score 5vs5). Here the stats for our Swiss Hitmen: Marcel: 21gp, 4g, 10a, 14pts, -2, 14 PIM, 10 hits, 49 sb, 1ppg Daniel: 21gp, 10g, 15a, 25pts, -2, 4 PIM, 47hits, 10sb, 1gwg, 4ppg https://vhlforum.com/topic/107887-marcel-jansers-junior-review/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107696-daniel-jansers-start-into-hockey/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108027-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108060-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-warriors/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108079-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108142-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108217-a-story-of-two-brothers-games-11-and-12-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108484-a-story-of-two-brothers-its-crunch-time/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108576-a-tale-of-two-brothers-draft-day/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108998-a-tale-of-two-brothers-first-games-in-the-vhlm/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109026-a-tale-of-two-brothers-the-odyssee-continues/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109055-a-tale-of-two-brothers-choppy-sailing/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109087-a-tale-of-two-brothers-lost-at-sea/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109185-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-rocking-boat/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109209-a-tale-of-two-brothers-silver-linings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109267-a-tale-of-two-brothers-business-as-usual/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109268-a-tale-of-two-brothers-in-dire-straits/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109294-a-tale-of-two-brothers-1st-quarter-done/ Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/109334-a-tale-of-two-brothers-close-encounters/ Share on other sites
jRuutu 2,475
9/10 Nice article! I like the idea of following the careers of both brothers. Additional stats and comments from the games are a cool touch. They give the reader bit more information on how the games went in general. The article is perhaps slightly difficult to read due to long paragraphs. Some work on the spacing could help, and a picture could be nice, but otherwise, nice work!
