The Los Angeles Stars beat the Calgary Wrangles in the first round 3-2.  I’m sure to many, the Wranglers were the favorites coming into the series, with a 7 point advantage in the regular season.  However, I never had a doubt in my mind that the Stars would win.  Los Angeles had something in their back pocket that their opponents did not.  It’s something intangible, but something that all teams crave, much like plants crave electrolytes.

I am of course talking about momentum, or Big Mo as I like to call it.  The Wranglers ended the season with NO MO, slipping down into 4th place after controlling 3rd for most of the season, at least by my memory.  While LA surged up in points with a decent winning streak close to the end of the season.  This helped them secure their spot in the playoffs.  Also the Stars scored 20 more goals, which clearly means we had superior firepower.  You know what they say, the best defense is a good offense.  Clearly scoring 20 more goals more than makes up for letting in 49 more.  Behold, the power of Big Mo!
