Goliathus 50
"The day that no player enjoys but will eventually come with time - like death - is here for me. I had enough ice hockey in my life and decided to just wrap up my player career. After a lot of years working around the leagues overseas, it's clear that I will not be able to play in the big league once more and I don't see any reason to play any further. Do I have any regret? Not really. From a statistical article I read, the one thing people regret the most is not chasing their dream when they are young. I did that, and even if the result is not the best, I have no regrets. That's just how life works, people see the cream of the crop that are at the top of their respective career fields, but there are many others who are mediocre in the middle line. I am one of those but I truly enjoyed what I did in my career. I can't write a book with this kind of career trajectory but who cares? I had done what I wanted to do. The toughest part is not hanging it up, but the feeling that I will have to find something else to do with my life. Shit, am I getting into early midlife crisis? Is that what it feels like? I don't know, and I will need some time to figure it out. Thankfully, I do have enough money to sustain myself in the mean time and I can take my time to decide on my next step."
