As we come up on the halfway point of the VHL season, a few things are starting to take shape.  The playoff picture in the North American Conference is already pretty much settled, with New York likely facing the winner of a Seattle/Calgary series for the chance at the Continental Cup, while a tight race in the European Conference could see any of the teams end up anywhere (especially if Helsinki finds their footing).

On the other end of the spectrum, Quebec and Toronto are pretty much playing for draft position at this point.  Both are terrible, with Toronto holding a one-point advantage in the standings by virtue of an overtime loss and an extra game over the Meute.  Both teams have some decent young talent, including GM players Aksel Thomassen and Ed Grr ready to contribute in the coming seasons, and with potential superstars Thomas O'Malley and Mason Richardson available in the draft, both teams should end up with a quality player going forward, provided the losers from Europe don't sneak their way into the top of the draft.

In conclusion, it really doesn't matter who is going to end up last.  Both teams are very bad, and there's only so much pride to be had from being just outside of the bottom.  Forget I said anything.  Carry on with your day.  Thanks for the TPE.
