Vasteras vs Helsinki: S35G1 - Recap

On the long-awaited opening night of the season 35 campaign, the Iron Eagles topped the reigning champion Helsinki Titans in what would turn out to be a thriller. Former Titan Guido Schwarz Esq. scored the first goal of S35 at 2:56 of the first period, with assists from Willem Janssen and Leon Leitner. Goals by Anatoli Zhumbayev and Blake Knight would follow, as the Iron Eagles took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

The 2nd period would go by without any scoring from either team, although the Iron Eagles successfully killed three penalties.

Ethan Osborne would tie it up at 2 on the power play at 3:29 of the 3rd period with off-season acquisition Ryan Sullivan assisting on the goal. However with under four minutes to play, Vasteras forward Michael Haan was able to pick his spot perfectly, converting an Adam Kylrad pass into a one-timer goal. That would make the score 3-2, which would hold out to be the final score.
