Jala 922
Welcome to Sportsnet Connected and our continuing coverage of newcomer Sachimo Zoidberg and his journey through the VHLM. If you missed the first segment, we had gotten an interview with this young rising star and he gave us a quick word on how his first two games had gone. We were able to catch him again this time in town for a follow-up on his progress in the VHLM. "I've played 16 games with the team now, and things have been going really well, for both me and the team. I'm on a goalless streak right now but I've been helping out by distributing the puck around and that's kept me at a 2 point-per-game pace so far through the season. Despite my lack of scoring I'm really forming some chemistry with the guys I play with, both my first line teammates and fitting into our power play system. Playing with Eti and Shadu has been a great experience because they're a pair of great guys. We click well and I feel that's why my assists have been going up despite the other teams learning how to control me and my offensive pressure. I can throw the puck out in the slot or near the crease and they have such great hockey sense they seem to always find the puck and create chances. Our chemistry is one of the biggest reasons we're in the playoff race right now. When I joined GM Gow told me that he didn't expect us to be a playoff team, but we've been bouncing back and forth with the Lynx for the last spot. The Rush have also gone 5-2-3 in our last 10 games, so I feel like we're in a good place right now." Zoidberg has some other big news since recently his girlfriend made the Yukon team as well, as she signed with the Rush as a free agent. "Yeah, it's really cool that Jaime made the team. GM Gow went through a lot of effort with his talks to other GMs to make try and make sure that none of them tried to sign her as he wanted to have her join us for my sake more then the possibility of having a skilled defender bolster our roster. She likes to play defense and loves the way Kevin Bieksa in the NHL plays, and so she tries to model her play after him. I've been working with her on and off the ice to help her progress and maybe in a year or two I feel she'll be able to break into the VHL. In the meantime we're both really excited at the prospect of getting some ice time together, and there's a good chance she'll be playing top line minutes pretty quick." We all thank Zoidberg for making time in his day to have a quick chat with us, and we hope you enjoyed the coverage on this youngster trying to make a name for himself in the VHLM. Keep tuned as we continue to cover his story and scrapbook his journey the VHL.
