M. Arpa relaxing after stopping a flurry of shots during a Hounds scrimmage in training camp

With not many selections compared to some of the other teams in this seasons VHLM entry draft, the Hounds were able to build a great core of players, in hopes of good fortune or possible draft picks in the near future. One name that sticks out is their 22nd pick, Miervaldis Arpa. We don't know much about him and he joined the draft late after missing his respective countries but from what we've seen in the previous 48 hours has to get the fans hyped for the upcoming season.

Adjusting to different strategies and playstyles is normal in hockey but for this Latvian born goaltender it has been difficult to understand most of what his coach says during practice, from talks about the yard and barking in the dressing room, the only thing Arpa can do is work, good thing goaltenders only need to make saves because that's something he understands completely and has already gotten praise for his excellent rebounding.

At the end of the day though it looks like nothing will change for Miervaldis as he enters his first official season but with more practice against top shooters like Vasile Lamb, his reaction time will only get better. One question remains, will he stand out from the rest with his different build or flop around trying to recover against some of the best young shooters in hockey?
