Booberry Gets First Shutout

First Shutout Giving Booberry Needed Confidence

 

Helsinki -- It wasn't an easy start to the season for rookie goalie Xavier Booberry, but things are starting to turn around. Last night against the London United, Booberry registered his first shutout in a Titans uniform, helping lead Helsinki to a 1-0 win over their European Conference rivals. He even had an assist in the game's lone goal to boot.

 

All in all, it was a breakout game for a young player still trying to find his footing. "It felt good getting that one under me," Booberry said post-game. "Sometimes you just need a little momentum to get the ball rolling. I'm hoping this is it, for both me and the team."

 

Indeed, the Titans are beginning to inch their way up the standings after an early rough start. Following a stretch where they've won three straight games, Helsinki now sits with 11 points - technically in seventh in the conference due to tiebreakers, but tied with Warsaw and Davos and just one point behind Prague for fourth.

 

Especially given the age of Helsinki's roster, it's reasonable to expect they the team will improve as the season goes on. And for some in the locker room, it's a sign that the playoffs may not be so far-fetched after all.

 

"We'll need some more of these performances to be sure, but I think I can provide them," Booberry said. "It may be my first shutout, but I'm going to do everything possible to make sure it's not my last."
