Will3 460
I could not pass up South East Aisa without talking about Kuala Lumpur. The capital city of Malaysia has an urban agglomeration of around 7.564 million people. Originally founded around 1857 as a tin mining town, it is now among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in Southeast Asia, in both population and economic development. It is an exciting city and home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Towers, which have since become an iconic symbol of Malaysian development. I would add the Kuala Lumpur Bricklayers. If that name sounds strange, it is time for a history lesson. Early Kuala Lumpur was a small town that suffered from many social and political problems. Fire, floods, disease and civil war destroyed the town many times.Frank Swettenhamthe, first Resident general of the Federated Malay States stipulated in 1884 that buildings should be constructed of brick and tile. Kapitan Yap Ah Loy bought a sprawling piece of real estate to set up a brick industry for the needs of rebuilding of Kuala Lumpur. This place is now the Brickfields neighborhood and a modern city was born. As a son and grandson of a bricklayer, I understand that the most important part of a new building is the foundation. Bricks are the foundation to the still developing Kuala Lumpur we see today. The team name is to honor that foundation and connecting to the ideas of progressing to something better. My own bias may have shaped my opinion, but I think this team name is as solid as a brick.
