SEATTLE - Sigard Petrenko has decided to make a switch in his jersey number. He had been wearing 88 when he first broke into the Victory Hockey League scene, when he was a part of the Houston Bulls. Coming into Seattle, he has been wearing 89 on the Bears as 88 has been retired in honour of Beketov. However, he feels that it’s about time he swapped numbers. Plus, maybe it will give him the luck he needs to step up his game in the Victory Hockey League.

“I’ve been wearing 89 for quite a while. It’s a good number but I think it’s about time I switch things up for once. 89 is a cool number but I haven’t been doing as well as I’d like. I’m quite a superstitious person so I’d like to choose a number that I hope brings me good luck this season. Besides, I think I’d look pretty cool wearing it.” Sigard Petrenko explained in an interview when he first revealed he was changing his number. “I want to be my own kind of player. So, I decided to try and choose another number that is pretty unique in the world of hockey right now.”

Instead of wearing 89, he will be leaving that number in favour of a new number.

“Of course, I might always end up switching back if I have a bad streak.” Sigard remarked with a laugh.

Introducing, from your Seattle Bears, number 79, Sigard Petrenko.
