I have finally hit a huge milestone in the VHL. No, it does not have anything to do with scoring goals, notching assists, racking up hits or laying down the body to block a shot. I had a long and successful career with Guy Lesieur mainly in D.C. coming up just one season after they were formed in expansion. That was a blast!

My “new” player, Luc Tessier, named after a character in one of my favorite films (French Kiss), is into his fifth season in the VHL and it is that longevity, combined with decent to more than decent earning that has brought me to the milestone. I now have two players in the VHL who have hit 700 TPE total earnings.

This is really huge for me as it means welfare goes from 4 TPE to 5 TPE. I really am in too many leagues and have pared those down with 3 of my players retiring in the past month. I’d really like to pare down even further and get to just 2-3 leagues, but the VHL makes 4. This still feels doable while I’ve got Tessier playing because of this higher welfare mark. Now I can be just 1 TPE off a max week and all I have to do is click a button – not write a 500 word article which both requires time and more knowledge about the league than I really have.

It may seem like a small deal – 1 TPE – but losing 2 TPE a week makes me feel like I really should do that big article. Losing only 1 TPE per week makes me feel better when I hit that button!
