With the holidays quickly approaching, the Mexico City Kings find themselves comfortably in the final playoff spot. The Halifax 21st find themselves 10 points behind, but with plenty of season left to play. The Kings are also just 3 points behind the Saskatoon Wild to attempt to move up to the 7th seed. This could be critical, as whoever is lined up to play the Ottawa Lynx in the first round might as well be walking into the slaughter house in a best of 7 series. The Houston Bulls have been just as good as Ottawa, so those last two playoff spots have their work cut out for them. Mexico City has been riding Boris Tsezar's goaltending throughout the season. Tsezar has had 1698 shots thrown his way. He has been the reason the Kings have been able to fight their way into a playoff spot. The team has improved as the season has gone on, and players are developing nicely. Ronan Lavelle has 31 goals on the season, which is top 10 in the league and 60 total points. Lavelle has exhibited a high level of confidence in the team. "We can take whoever we face in 7 games, I don't care who it is" Lavelle said after the team's latest victory over Saskatoon. If Mexico City can continue their dedication and improvement, they could prove to be a more difficult first round matchup than these upper tier teams think.
