Girts Galvins

Height: 6'6"

Weight: 240 lbs

Born: Latvia

Position: LW - Sniper

The Las Vegas Aces traded up to take Girts Galvins at pick 42 in the VHLM draft and he probably became the steal of the draft as the Latvian sniper was among the league leaders in goals, points, powerplay and game winning goals. Galvins also led the playoffs in goal scoring with 15 markers in 16 games while adding 15 assists for 30 points helping his team reach game 6 of the cup finals. Ultimately Galvins and the Aces fell just short of winning a championship in his rookie season but he certainly made his mark in the league as one of the fastest rising and most talented players in this draft class. Galvins joined the VHLM draft at just 75 tpe and finished the season at over 220tpe, a tremendous pace as he showed consistent earning every week of his junior career.

Galvins playing career got started as a 2nd line left wing for the Aces, he contributed goals every few games and helped the team to an 8-0 start. He quickly improved on the ice and became a consistent scorer as the Aces continued a dominant early season run leading their division and were looking like one of the top teams in the VHLM. Galvins was playing well and his build was becoming more and more effective every week, so much so that about half way through the season his GM's promoted him to 1st line alongside Alex The Great and Adelline Della Donne. This line quickly become one of if not the best line in the VHLM as they dominated the scoresheet every game and Galvins goals and points started skyrocketing. The chemistry on this line was amazing and Galvins was one of the hottest players in the league during the 2nd half finishing with 43 goals, good for 6th in the entire league and 91 points which was 9th in the league. He also led the league in game winning goals with 11 and was top 10 in powerpay goals with 14. Just an absolute great performance for Girts Galvins and the Aces who finished 1st in the West and had the 2nd best record in the league. They battled with the Houston Bulls in the 2nd half of the season and were able to outlast them for the division heading into the playoffs as a top 2 seed.

Galvins and the Aces had a great playoffs, starting out with a sweep of Saskatoon which also saw Galvins score 5 goals in one game which was pretty amazing. They then took on Phlly which was a closer series, Galvins and the top line played well again and the Aces won in 6 games. Galvins led the playoffs in goal scoring heading into a finals showdown with Ottawa. This was a flip flop series as Ottawa won the first two games and then Vegas won the next two games, setting up a best of 3 series for the cup. Ottawa won both game 5 and 6 depsite a valiant effort from Vegas and the Aces season came to a close falling just short. Galvins led the playoffs in goals and was 2nd in points, a great showing in his first season and he really enjoyed the experience.

Overall his rookie season was a great experience and he loved playing for the Las Vegas Aces and GM's AJ and Mubbles. Recently surpassing 200tpe Galvins now moves on the the VHLE and VHL drafts. As I write this he was just drafted 12th overall in the VHLE draft by the Bratislava Watchmen! An exciting new chapter awaits for Girts Galvins in year two!
