Vice 403
Ixazaluoh Nabs Bronze Medal This past week, the annual World Junior Hockey Championships took place. As we discussed in our last article, Toronto Legion defenseman, Cadmael Ixazaluoh, was selected for his second showing on Team World. The competition looked to be as stacked as it did the year previously, though this time, Cadmael seemed to enter the tournament with the swagger only a league veteran could have. He immediately helped bring his team up to the play-in level, despite dropping 3 games early on. Cadmael never performed over 1 point a game, but he pretty consistently did do just that, ending the tournament with 2 goals and 6 assists in only 10 games, featuring 38 hits and 20 total shots blocked. This ranked Cadmael among the more defensive-defenseman, something a bit different than what we are used to seeing from the Guatemalan player. We managed to catch up with him to ask him about just that: Interviewer: "Cadmael, what was your mindset going into the WJHC?" Cadmael: "Well this is my chance to practice before the start of my first season in the VHL. I worked on passing and setting up my teammates in Bratislava, so I wanted a chance to work on some defense before I started here in Toronto." Interviewer: "You managed to upset Team Canada of all teams to win the Bronze Medal, how does that make you feel?" Cadmael: "Quite elated actually. This is the first thing that I have earned on my own since starting in the VHL, it feels like the fruit of my labor is starting to pay off, and I think my patience will reward itself." Interviewer: "There are rumors that you have also taken an interest in coaching/management, is there a chance you would work with the VHLM franchise in Mexico City to bring hockey more south?" Cadmael: "Uhhh, while I cannot speak to anything about Mexico City, as I am focused here in Toronto, I will say that helping others and being a guide is something that I have always enjoyed so, maybe in the future. Who knows." Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/115273-ixazaluoh-nabs-bronze-medal/ Share on other sites
