JCarson 806
Round two of the VHLE payoffs are complete and the San Diego Marlins have won a remarkably close battle against the Halifax 21st. As a representative of the San Diego Marlin’s, I want to congratulate the Halifax 21st on an exceptional playoff series and a wonderful season 83. First, I would like to pay respects to their goaltender, Sam Tombstone. Sam fought a hard series and gave Halifax 21st the opportunity to win this series. Every game he displayed great form and net presence. As a result of the effort and skill displayed Sam ended the playoffs with a 1.84 GAA over 11 games. That is a respectable statistic for any goalie but to manage that against the best teams in the league clearly demonstrates the ability of this goaltender. Sam you will make a fantastic addition to the VHLE next season, any team would be lucky to have you. With Sam Tombstone keeping the goals low, that allowed the forwards to show off their potential. To Sam Azjha, Otis Boudreax, barry bigman and Juhnu Anttonen, you pushed hard with each of you having 9 or more points within the 11 games you played during the playoffs. Being at a pace of nearly a point a game is exceptional. Your efforts provided the scoring this team needed to push past the first round and make the second round remarkably close. It was through your combined effort that you pushed the series to seven games and almost won. I give you, my respect. Brodie Landry III, 9 points in 11 games while playing a strong defensive game only proves that you are one of the top defensive players in the league. An amazing 16.67% shot percentage. You will go far in the VHL, keep up the magnificent work, keep training hard. I would also be a little remiss if I failed to mention E Man and John Porema Jr, 23.08% and 22.22% respectively for shooting percent is spectacular. This is a defensive core that can both keep up with the offensive push of this team but also make it difficult for the teams they play. Well done. Well Done. Halifax you are a team filled with notable talent who showed they can work hard game after game. As a group you are a testament to the game of hockey, hard-working, dedicated individuals. I wish you luck as you proceed in your careers, good luck in the S84 draft and with the VHLE. To the coaches, trainers, and Managers of the Halifax 21st, your continued effort, guidance and dedication to your team was seen by all. You should be proud of every player you mentored throughout the season. They represented you, the league, and the city of Halifax well. You should be proud of yourselves, what you accomplished in putting together a team of this strength. Everyone can honestly admit that this series could have gone either way. It was a close series where both teams gave everything they had. The San Diego Marlins send you their respect, well played. jacobcarson877 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/121912-an-ode-to-halifax/ Share on other sites
