On Top - Seattle Bears

SEATTLE - The S in Seattle stands for sports. It may not be as prolific as other big cities but Seattle loves their sports. They have the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. MLS’ Seattle Sounders FC.  MLB’s Seattle Mariners. Seattle University has the Redhawks. And the newest addition to the Seattle sporting family, the Seattle Kraken. But one team that I haven’t mentioned is currently in the spotlight despite being in the midst of all of this action. A team that had all of Seattle on its feet and cheering when Vinny Detroit banked in the go-ahead goal and the eventual game winner. The current Continental Champions. Seattle is the home of the Bears, who recently beat the Moscow Menace in the cup final.

 

“When Vinny scored that goal, it was absolutely electric. We were all getting ready to band together for the final few minutes but you just knew. Inside, you just knew. Seattle was on top once again.” Sigard Petrenko said in a post-game interview. 

 

Sigard Petrenko is just one player of a tight-knit VHL crew. He says this is easily the greatest moment in his career.

 

“It’s the [expletive] Continental Cup! There is nothing like it! I mean, this is the best award you can win in hockey and we did it together. Z [Chara], AJ [Williams], Hogan II, Torq, Kovalchuk, Miglaskems, Eightnine, Vinny [Detroit], MDM [Meridius], and Flex. We came together, dug in deep and pulled it off.”
