Bulduray_1 274
Offseason Discussions As the season slowly subsides once again into disappearance. Hundreds if not thousands of players playing in the VHL or affiliated in some way will be heading into the offseason. This’ll be a crucial and beneficial time for players to sharpen their skills on the ice, without the pressure of performing under the spotlight in games. While for the front office, the offseason brings a time of strategic thinking. Free agent signings, contract negotiations and draft picking are all in the repertoire this coming offseason. It’ll nonetheless be an mysterious yet exciting offseason once again around the VHL. Going over to the city of Moscow, we have Sergey Preobrazhensky. A centerman for the Moscow Menace who has been quietly rising up the ranks in the VHL. He had an unprecedented amount of success in his recent season with the team, bolstering his offensive production for Moscow. Totalling up to 85 points with tremendous amounts of athleticism and finesse to go along with it. But with such a significant jump in numbers comes along daunting pressure for Preobrazhensky to improve from those numbers next year. Because of this, Sergey has planned a strict training regiment to get him in the best shape of his life for this upcoming season, with the help of staff and trainers. Sergey will continue to moderately improve his physical fitness in the weightroom like many others. But he will double his work improving in-game skills, such as speed, shooting and faceoffs. “It’s never too early to think about next season, I'm working harder than anyone out there right now. For the benefit of the Moscow organization and as well as myself” expressed Preobrazhensky rink-side with a local reporter. Now we head off to Saskatoon, where the Wild management are in a tough position heading into the VHLM Draft coming up in less than a day. Saskatoon was left with relative disappointment and anguish after finding out that they had one of the worst league records in the VHLM that season. The front office hopes to change their fortunes this time around. After receiving quite a bit of draft picks off teams in S83. Saskatoon hopes to cash in to help make a more competitive team moving forward. Although this is the case, there are still many question marks for the Saskatoon Wild heading into the season. No one really knows how well they will do when it comes time to play. There is no clear cut answer for this team and only time will tell how the season will unfold for them. The offseason is always a jam-packed period full of many different emotions for everyone. Everyone wants to have a successful and productive offseason, whether a player or team. But only the mighty will prevail in such a competitive league. There are still over a week of preparation for the next season, plenty of time for anyone to make an impact. It’ll sure be fun seeing how the rest of the offseason will play out, stay tuned!
