jRuutu 2,476
If you click that little "Media spots" at the top of your screen and go back to look at the recent media spots, you maybe notice that most of the articles get decent views, around 50, some even get over 100! But the number of reactions is a lot less, the same with the comments and replies. When you create an article into the media spot section, you more than likely head into it thinking nobody is going to read it, and often that is true. Nobody has the time to read that many 500-word articles, and if the content of most articles is more or less on the same lane - there is no need to pop in every week to read. That is a shame. VHL is like a bucket with a hole in it. Always need to keep putting more water in it, or it will be empty. Unfortunately, the bucket has been filled by recruiting from places that are not exactly a perfect fit for VHL. Reddit, Youtube, and various social media sites. I don't know exactly what the recruitment plan is or has been in the last year, but I remember seeing Reddit and Youtube being mentioned with recruitment, so I will think about them now. Do the users of Reddit and Youtube write 500-word articles, do they create graphics, do they record podcasts? And more importantly, when these users come into VHL and notice very few read their articles, or react to their work, will they keep on doing the work, or are they going to just do what their GMs and other clicker heroes tell them - "it's alright, we get it, it's tough, you can claim welfare and still be a good player", or will they just stop coming back? Ironic that so many nowadays rave about being modern and not living in the year 2012, but still at the same time, these articles are one of the main ways to earn TPE for most users. Who are these articles for? If only a few read them if only a few react to them, who are these for? You can include graphics and podcasts in it too. Does modern internet user spend their time looking at signatures for hockey forum, or do they want something more? Does modern internet user spend their time listening to podcasts about something related to VHL, or do they want something more? Doing point tasks in VHL right now is like working in a call center in Greece, great if you want to try something new in your early 20s or if you just want to see Greece for a bit, but you are not going to do it forever. At some point, you start to want more. If you were so bored that you read until here, you might now expect me to give solutions or suggestions on how to give modern internet users something more. I am not going to do that. Think of me as Greta Thunberg, it's not my job to offer solutions or suggestions, I am here to just raise awareness.
