Molly the Cat, the Season 84 VHLE regular season is almost at an end and the Vasteras Iron Eagles have pretty much locked up third place in the league. Tell me how you are feeling about the playoffs and your first-round opponents?

Although we have basically locked up third in the conference, we do not yet know who our first-round opponents will be. The Bratislava Watchman and Istanbul Red Wolves sit tied with 92 points each. It is going to be a fierce fight for first place. Either way it turns out, the Vasteras Iron Eagles are working hard to get into playoff shape. We know that we need to focus on ourselves and make sure we are prepared for the playoff battle ahead. We are feeling good about our chances.

Molly the Cat, are you surprised about how strong a season that Istanbul and Bratislava have had this year?

Not really. If you look at the two teams, they have a strong core of players who are contributing every night. On top of that they have some exceptional talent that is leading them in scoring. I am not surprised by any of the players leading the teams as I had the chance to play with all of them with the San Diego Marlins. In Istanbul you have Fraser Wallace, a fast well-balanced center with spectacular vision and hockey sense. There is not a goalie on the ice who can figure out what he is going to do when he has the puck. With his talent he can either choose to score or can dish it to anyone on the ice. In 68 games he is sitting with 41 goals and 43 assists, a threat no matter what.

You then look at Bratislava and you have the combination of Tyler Busser and AK92 Wit da Hoodie. The combination of raw offensive ability in Tyler Busser and the defensive depth and playmaking ability of AK92 Wit da Hoodie and it is no surprise they are doing as well as they are. San Diego Marlins alumni continuing to grow together, and build off each other. These two are going to be offensive forces for years to come. I hope the VHL is ready for them.

Molly the Cat, as you finish this year and look forward to your VHL career with London United is there any one aspect of the game you are focusing on?

That is an exceptionally good question, over the last season I have spent a bit of time focusing on a variety of offensive skills, working on my strength, shooting, passing, etc. But as I enter my VHL career I am spending time on my defensive skills. Through conversations with existing VHL talent I have come to the realization that those aspects designated as defensive abilities help with tasks like puck retrieval, forcing turnovers and blocking passes out of the offensive zone. Applying the Defensive skills in the offensive zone can allow for more puck time and more opportunities to score.

Molly the Cat, one last question. In our very first interview this season you noted that your goal was to hit 50 points this season. With 4 games left do you think you will reach it?

It is not going to be easy; I will need a few multipoint games, but I am not writing it off yet. I am going to push right to the end.
