MetalToday 266
Brendan Marner is looking ahead at the playoffs and with his recent play he is unsure how he will do. He pointed out how he expected to have a breakout season, but instead he had another year of regression in his play. Brendan Marner is looking at what he can do in the playoffs, but he doesn’t know where to improve himself as each time he has attempted to improve, it came with a lack of production and defensive skills. Marner was a 2-way player throughout his career, but with this past season, he only collected 174 hits, that’s down from last season, and down even more from his rookie season. His goals have decreased the past 2 seasons as well as his assists. Marner has not played the way he knows he can, and he is looking to have a comeback season, but it has yet to happen, without finding his stride this season, his hopes for doing well in the playoffs is low. Marner tried to adjust his game to the way some of the top players in the league has done, but it has yet to work, in fact it has decreased his production more. However, saying Marner sucks would not be correct, although he has not produced the way he was expected to, he did produce enough to be the second highest points guy on the team, right behind the GM’s son. The team wasn’t good at producing at all, they have a lot of top talent, but is unable to produce. They obviously took a defensive approach to the season, but that should not take away from your scoring ability when you are in the offensive zone. Regardless for where you stand on the structure of the team, you need to look at how well the team has done, they are 5th in the league and in a good playoff position right now, the team is expected to go on a deeper playoff run than last year when they could not even pass the first round. Brendan Marner is still skeptical about the playoffs and believes the team will need to tighten up offensively to make a good playoff run. Brendan Marner is currently on a mutual option for this upcoming year, and he is aware the team might lose some older experienced players, but he is still looking to stay as he thinks the team is going to be worth staying with as the team will only likely get better. Marner wants to stay for next year regardless of the playoff success, however the team may not have the cap space to hold on to his 5.25-million-dollar contract which makes fans of Marner and Brendan Marner himself very skeptical. Brendan Marner wants to play better; however it is unlikely that will happen on Warsaw as the team is a defensive based team, but if the coach tries new lines, and new strategies next season, there is a chance the 21st overall S80 could get back to his rookie level scoring and potentially show Warsaw and the league his true skills, and hopefully help bring the team to the continental cup.
