ThePerfectNut 563
After getting 80 points in 72 games with 35 goals in the previous victory hockey league minor season. Daniel Weaver was confident that he would be a top 3 pick, but he ended up falling 4th overall in the victory hockey league 85th draft. He knew that Henry Eagles would be a lock at number 1 since he and his agent has a great relationship with the Vancouver Wolves management, but the 2 players after him? He feels like those picks were just based on favoritism. I believe Prague will regret there pick in 3 seasons since we can all see John Jameson becoming a Wolves once he has the chance to become one. What if he stays? Well, the only quality forward that Prague has is their star center, Perry Laperriere. John Jameson is also a center so it's good to assume they won't play on a line together. We can find many centers like Jameson across the league, but it's not easy to find quality wingers that would get along with Perry Laperriere and it seems teams that win a lot of games in the VHL recently are teams with superstar duos playing together as one of the 3 criteria, not two quality centers. If they do play on a line together? Well, why didn't they just select the best possible winger in the draft instead? He would also waste a bunch of TPE on FO. Calgary made a good pick with Phil Strasmore since they needed a 4th defender in the upcoming season and Calgary already had 6 quality forwards, but with players like Erlantz Jokinen and AirRig GoodBrandSun as all-star calibers defenders already. Phil Strasmore won't become "that guy" until after his third season and who knows what will happen to Calgary since Saku Kotkakoivu, Luc Tessier and Erlantz Jokinen will all be retired once his moment to shine "could" be at that moment. Regardless, Phil would be a long time project and I expect him to have a breakout season in his 4th season where he will finally become the #1 defender on his team. Now here comes the New York Americans. The cursed franchise for some people. Any prospect would be afraid to start there career for the Americans because of there history. They had a multiple of General Managers since season 66. They have a talent to draft rookie of the years players, but they can't seem to go anywhere with them afterwards. Big time players like Lance Flowers, Soren Jensen, Guy LeGrande and Ryan Sullivan Jr were all amazing players that won rookie of the year, but they ALL ended up leaving New York! The last time New York won any sort of awards was almost 10 seasons ago and it was won by Red Lite for being rookie of the year. He played for NY for 5 seasons before retiring very early for them. So yeah New York seems like a cursed franchise and the league refuse to relocate this team simply because it's New York, but Weaver is still hopeful to defies odds and end up beinh the one breaking the curse...or will he also fall victim of the curse?
