Russian forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev has arrived in the VHLE. The big-bodied winger is making his mark in Germany with the Cologne Express, and has certainly put the scouts on watch.

Things were tough for Bogatyrev as he got started. He registered a single point throughout his first four games, but since then, the Nizhniy Tagil native has racked up six points over his next six games, currently with a 4+3 statline.

Saying that, the Express haven’t got off to the start they would have liked. They currently sit third from bottom after a frustrating opening to their campaign, which included a recent loss to highly unfavoured Istanbul Red Wolves.

“We’re still finding our feet it seems. I think we have a roster with good players, but it seems that the chemistry isn’t there so far. Especially up front, we’re not scoring as many goals as we would like, and this is something that we need to continue working on going forward,” Bogatyrev said after Sunday night’s loss to the Bratislava Watchmen.

Bogatyrev is one of two VHL S86 Entry Draft eligible players currently in the VHLE. According to scouting reports, the Russian forward is likely to be a lottery pick in the upcoming draft.
