nfrank060 7
Everything You Need to Know About King: Standing at 6’1” 190lbs. David King was considered by many a prolific playmaking prospect from Kansas City, Missouri in the United States. After being signed by the Houston Bulls on a short 1-year $1.5 million contract, he quickly got to work, hoping to show off his passing skills as well as his general playmaking ability in the league. After his first game against the Saskatoon Wild putting up two assists to “The Mediocre One” with a 3 +/- many, along with King himself, were happy with his first performance. The game following was similar with another assist to “The Mediocre One” along with a few shots. Manager of the Houston Bulls AJW noticed a rising chemistry between the two within his King’s first few games, making sure to put them on the ice at the same time. King’s third game, however, was truly his breakout showing. With his first two goals of the season and two assists against the Mississauga Hounds, scouts as well as his teammates were shocked by his amazing performance. Although slowing down after the first few games, he has gotten 3 goals and 10 assists in total in his first 15 games. When previously asked about his performance he noted that he had plenty of room to improve, mostly his stickhandling which he said had been, "holding his passing and shooting abilities back since the beginning of the year"; however, he additionally said that he was generally pleased with his performance so far and hopes that the year continues to go good for him, and for the rest of the team as well. Now we have David King here to answer a couple questions about himself and just being new to the league what his experience is like. Hello David, it’s nice to be with you here today, now tell me, what is it like going from high school hockey in Kansas City, all the way to the VHLM? Well, you know it's the same as going from any league to another, higher stakes, better coaching, not that my coaches were bad before, higher level facilities, and most importantly, better food. Thats great. Honestly everyone wants to know although we think we know the answer, which teammates have you connected with most on and off the ice? I’d definitely have to say The Mediocre one as you could probably tell on the ice. Most of my passes to him make their way to the back of the net and being the leading goalscorer in the league I mean you just got to give him the puck every chance you get. I think you’ll find this interesting enough but off the ice I’ve really become good friends with AJM, and yes, I know it sounds like I’m kissing up to the coach, but he’s honestly just a great guy and has really helped me out my first few games in the league. What do you think is your future with the game of hockey now that you have made it professionally? Really just focusing on my game and getting better, hopefully win a championship if I can along the way. Of course, my dream has been and still is to play in the VHL, but I still need more work to get there and do my best and forget the rest. Thanks for being on here tonight, David. Thank you! der meister 3,247
I really enjoyed this piece. You did a good job introducing your player's history before the interview, so the media spot had a lot more depth than a typical one of this nature. Is there actually a player named The Mediocre One, or is that a nickname for someone on the team? If it's the latter, I have no idea who that is, so introducing them would be helpful. The only formatting issue I noticed was a missing space between paragraphs, but that's essentially nothing but nitpicky. 10/10 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/127734-david-kings-entry-into-the-league-interview/#findComment-952839 Share on other sites
