Managing a team isn't easy. Managing a team in the VHLM is even more challenging. The GMs in the VHL only really have to worry about the salary cap. That is something that can be predicted and planned far ahead. The VHLE has to worry about the roster and if they will lose players to the VHL. In the VHLM you have to worry about getting new players on the team all while keeping the current players active and engaged with the league. VHL and VHLE GMs don't have to camp in the create a player page hoping to get a new player to join their team in waivers. They don't have to worry about recruiting ads going out on a work day and scrambling to get home to get pitches out. They also don't have to keep their locker room active. They could just do the bare minimum and be fine. In the VHLM, keeping the team afloat was a part-time job. I had to make sacrifices to ensure the team did well which wasn't good for my mental or physical health.

When I was a GM of the Mexico City Kings it was a challenge to be competitive each season. The VHLM is one of the most demanding leagues. I remember when I was working at home keeping the computer on the create a player page while working. If I got any notifications, I would stop working, get my pitch in, and welcome them if they chose me. I decided that my full-time job was not as important as getting an active locker room. In the short term, it was a good idea. I really got a nice team and some great first gen players on the team. In the long term, it caused a lot of stress and rushed the burnout of being a GM.

When I first got the reigns of the team, I was worried about competing with the draft picks that were left for me. Of course, this is a hot topic now. Trading picks in the VHLM. As a previous GM do I think VHLM GMs should be able to trade picks? Not really. I think it would be a better system to keep everyone's draft picks the same but only let player trades happen. This would be incredibly hard to do trades, but I think that's the point of the VHLM. Why should you be traded in a development league? As a GM your goal isn't to be the best team. Your goal is to be a guide for first-generation players and keep them active and ready for the big leagues. Going all in each season shouldn't be a thing. The biggest problem with no trades would then fall onto the recruiting team. They need to make sure that the league is getting more people into the league. At one point we had the Juniors for how many people were signed up. Now there isn't any reason to have the juniors with how little the prospect pool is. Hell, Mississauga doesn't even have any players which is a problem in itself.
