Siyan Yasilievich - Veteran Presence

What does it mean to be a Veteran?

Siyan Yasilievich, currently in his third season, has had many different roles on teams, however nothing comes close to the role he has on the team this season. At the beginning of the season, Siyan was named the Captain for the HC Davos Dynamo. This was a huge step forward in Siyan's career, as it's the first time he has been named captain of a team in the VHL. Siyan, although somewhat new to the VHL stage has already showed signs of growth from his time being a rookie. Not only has Siyan stepped it up on the ice, on pace to put up more points then last season, he also has taken a bigger role in the locker room. He has been a huge voice for the new players coming into the locker room and helping them find their way in the VHL, something that Davos is very happy to have. On top of that, Siyan knew coming into this season that he would have to follow up his great season last season, which he is on pace to do. The biggest problem Siyan has faced this season has mainly been trying to find a way to contribute more on the ice. Even though I said that Siyan is technically on pace to have more points then last season, many people, including Davos Management was hoping that he would have more of an effect on the team already. Last season, he put up just over 40 points in 72 games, and this season he will most likely be in the 45-50 point range. Although this is an improvement, Davos was hoping for a bigger step, as another player that was drafted later in the first round, the same draft as Siyan, currently is on pace to be a point per game defenseman in the VHL. Jake Thunder, although being very active on the ice, is a quieter then Siyan in the locker room. Siyan has also had to deal with the stress and pressure of being a "C" in the VHL, as many people are expecting him to lead the team on and off the ice, which currently he isn't doing an amazing job leading on the ice. Regardless, Siyan has been a great presence for newer players coming to Davos and he's hoping to continue his influence for newer players who are making to make the jump from the E/M to the big leagues!
