Bogatyrev and Express Players Praise Fan Support

Recommended Posts

The Cologne Express are the form team in the VHLE. The German side, who started the season in a dreadful run of form, have turned their game around, in a large part thanks to the fervent support of their hometown fanbase.

“The fan support since I moved here to Cologne has been amazing, and I’m so thankful to get to play in front of these guys and wear the jersey for them,” Bogatyrev said at a fan appreciation event in the centre of Cologne on Sunday, following the Express’ 4-1 victory over the Stockholm Vikings.

German fans are known to be some of the most passionate fans in hockey, rivalling those in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Sweden.

The Express have consistently finished in the playoff places since joining the VHLE, and having tens of thousands of roaring supporters has been one of the reasons why the team has never been complacent.

“We want to be the sixth skater out on the ice. That is why we give our all for the team, and that’s why we love it when they give their all for us. Hockey is a religion for us here in Cologne, we saw it earlier with die Haie, and now we see it with the Express,” Guenther Mueller, the head of the Express fan club, said during the event.
