The Stage is Set

 

 

Moscow - It’s been a quiet week so far in Moscow. As everyone waits for the Wildcard week to end, the Moscow Menace had plenty of time to regroup after a lengthy and taxing regular season. Now that the real playoffs are starting, Moscow’s players will have to come into the playoffs with a clear mindset and be ready to play their hearts out.

 

The Moscow Menace have their first series against the London United. The attitude in Moscow’s locker room has been rather tame. Although players are riled up for their first appearance since the end of the regular season, they know that they need to keep their emotions under wraps. Keeping level-headed in the playoffs is the only way to win and it seems like everyone on the Moscow team understands that.

 

The London United coming into this series have been, although on paper this team doesn’t look to be quite as big of a threat as other teams in the VHL. They have been able to steadily stand their ground in the European Conference. Finishing just four points below Moscow, this team isn’t one to be taken lightly. Their top forward, Zaza Colors capped off another good season finishing with over a point per game and leading the United in numerous offensive categories. Although the London United might not have a standout forward that other teams might have, they have a group of reliable guys that can most certainly pull their own weight. While their top defensemen, and heavily talked about veteran, Jerome Reinhart will lead the defense. Although Jerome isn’t known for being a physical defender, he makes up for it with his elite play-making and offensive abilities. Finishing fifth overall in the VHL for points.

 

Going over to the otherside, the Moscow Menace have had more of a down year, compared to their regular season records from last year. But they’ve still been able to lock up the second overall spot in the European Conference with eighty-eight points. Tomas Sogaard has been a fairly younger player in the Moscow organization that has taken the VHL by storm. Just in his sophomore year, he has been able to climb to ninth overall in points scored. And has been a lifesaver for the Menace in the regular season. Not only that, but he’s also had his fair share of hits as well, Sogaard is everything a manager would want in their lineup. While on the defensive end, Hard Markinson and Papa Emeritus are going to have another go at it. Both players have excelled at their certain positions, making a name for themselves early on in their VHL careers. There is just one thing that both of them haven’t accomplished just yet, winning the Continental Cup.

 

Time has once again come again for some amazing VHL playoff hockey. Many teams will slowly fade in the darkness, filled with pain and anguish. It will only be the mighty that will prevail during such a physically and mentally demanding period of time. So everyone, grab your popcorn, because the stage is finally set.
