Time running short for NHL to start next season Jan. 1

Starting the Season

The season is once again back in the VHL. Many players and teams are back in action again as VHL fans are hungry for some hockey action. Let’s see how our favorite VHL and VHLM team’s are doing shall we?

After being named first alternate captain for the Moscow Menace, Sergey Preobrazhensky was poised for an amazing season. He had worked incredibly hard since we last saw him. After having an offensively down year with only 78 points as opposed to 87 points last year. Sergey knew that he had to do something to break out and become a well-renowned superstar. He went back to the drawing board and built out another training regimen for himself to complete before training camp.

After watching many clips of him last season with coaches and trainers, Sergey identified that he was lacking a vitally important defensive component. Which left him with fewer offensive opportunities and often getting beat by his opponent counterparts. Sergey was dead set on improving an overlooked defensive aspect of his game. After countless reps and hours of working hard on the ice. Sergey was left exhausted but also fulfilled and excited to start the season as a reinforced defender. “I’ve virtually done everything I can to improve my game, all I can do right now is hope results come my way” expressed Sergey to Russian reporters.

So far, Sergey has had a fairly decent start to his season. Averaging a point per game is an amazing stat for many, but Sergey isn’t satisfied enough. “Our team has been on a slow start so far. I need to help my team at least become another hopeful contender for the Continental Cup to call this season a success for myself”

Across the globe, we land in Saskatoon where the Wild have faced a slow start of their own. Being tied last for their conference with ten points wasn’t what anyone wanted to see at all. But on the bright side, there is still plenty of time to turn the page. Saskatoon could very well turn their fortunes around and start winning games. After all, we are only twelve games into the season.

Although Saskatoon has had a hard time starting on the right foot as a team. Individually, it seems like players have hit their stride this season. Such as Nick Trash, the returning center has had a fabulous start to his season. Having over eighteen points and leading the Wild in almost all offensive categories. Even though people had predicted Nick Trash to be a nice complimentary piece of the puzzle for the Wild. People didn’t realize he would take center stage for the Wild in these twelve games played.

On top of that, Admir Bala has impressed many with his abilities. Being second in hits with forty-seven is no fret, even if Admir hasn’t shown the best offensive stats for a defensemen. He sure makes up for it with a surprising amount of hits in his first season with the Saskatoon Wild.

It’s time for the VHL season once again and I look forward to what twists and turns this season brings!
