Back on Track

Moscow - Moscow’s valuable center, Sergey Preobrazhensky is back on the podium. Ready to answer some questions from curious reporters after a thrilling 4-3 shootout victory against the Calgary Wranglers. It was a long and tedious press conference, but here are some of the highlights within the presser:

Reporter: "Hello there Sergey, thank you for your time. Moscow had a slow start, but it seems like you guys are back on track and found your pace. The Moscow Menace are now in fourth place in the European Conference and just 6 points out from first place. What do you think has contributed to your guy’s success the most this past week?"

Sergey: "I personally believe that it’s been our team chemistry. We’ve had some players come and go these past few seasons and now we have a bunch of new guys on our team, some even in their first season with Moscow. We all weren’t on the same page with each other within the first batch of games played. But as we got to know each other, we became more comfortable and set ourselves up for success."

Reporter: "You and Tomas Sogaard have been on the spotlight as of late, with many suggesting you two as a dynamic duo. How did this pairing and success come to fruition?"

Sergey: "You know, coming into last season we were pretty heartbroken after another playoff knockout. On top of that, Idaho had just said goodbye to Moscow. Sogaard came onto the scene with big shoes to fill after Idaho left. Being able to mentor the young lad really helped us as a team. Now that we are on the same line, we both help each other and work towards the common goal of winning."

Reporter: "28 points in just 26 is an amazing accomplishment for many. But when you look at others in the VHL, such as the Nils Godlander’s or the Brenden Marner’s who have over 47 and 46 points respectively. What do you make of that? Does that make you want to push yourself to chase these players in point totals?"

Sergey: "Not really, I’ve been doing well with the chances and opportunities I have gotten on the ice. Forcing myself to chase over stats likely won’t help myself or the team. Half of the time, I don’t focus on stats throughout the season, it’s counterproductive for my game. I’d rather reflect on how my stats look in the offseason to then work on. Rather than looking at my point totals within the season."

Reporter: "How do you feel about this team after such thrilling victories as of late?"

Sergey: "I feel like we can still keep up with the big dogs of the VHL. The VHL may think we aren’t as strong as we once were, but I’m here to show that Moscow still has stuff left in the tank. We’re going in as the wild card this season, many aren’t sure of what to make of this Moscow team. But after our victory here tonight against Calgary, it should be noted that we shouldn’t be taken lightly."

And there you have it! With just 26 games played for the Moscow Menace, there are still plenty of twists and turns to be seen this season. We look forward to seeing what happens within the next few weeks for Sergey and the Moscow Menace!
