Mike 754
Calgary is currently four points behind the 7-1 Quebec City Meute but have one game in hand. Many have predicted that Calgary could again go as far as the Continental Cup Championship and at the very least will likely make the North American Conference Finals. Most didn't expect their offense to be this explosive. With the loss of A. Chershenko Calgary was thought to have plugged holes in the off-season but not get quite back to where they were in terms of talent last season. Through seven games Calgary has scored an amazing forty goals seven more than the second Meute again with one less game played. The success is largely due to Volodymyr Rybak's continued success, Clark Marcellin's league leading nineteen assists, and the emergence of young forward Chico Salmon. However the most surprising thing so far is Michal Wozniak finally stepping into to forefront as an offensive superstar which was expected many seasons ago. He has spent most of his career in the shadows of many VHL greats but this season is either tied or leading the league in many categories. Those are goals, points per twenty, faceoff%, PP Goals, GW Goals, Hat Tricks, and Point Scoring Streak a far cry from the mediocrity of the rest of his career.
