A long career will finally come to an end after this season. Donny Carter went up in front of the Vancouver media to make a statement after their 4-1 win vs Helsinki. He was smiling as he approached the microphone to answer some questions for his first interview in a few weeks.

Peter Griffin : Donny, great game today, it's great to see you fitting into the team here in Vancouver!

Donny Carter : Thank you, and yeah I'm having a great time here. It's nice to just be able to fit in and contribute, be kind of a veteran voice here on the team you know?

Rick Sanchez : Speaking of veteran voice, will we see you again next season?

Carter : That's definitely something I've wanted to talk about. It's getting to that time in my career when I have to think about my future, I have kids to care for and to be with them while they grow up. You know, I'm getting old. I think this will be the last year. I really hope we can go on a run here, it'd be nice to go out on top of the mountain. I'm not going to look too far ahead though. We have a fight for a playoff spot first. But to go back to your question, I think this is my final year.

Joe Smith : Donny could you talk about that pass you made to set up the first goal?

Carter : Sure Joe, I...

So there you have it, Carter's journeyman career will come to an end after this year. It's been a great career for the underrated two way forward, and there will definitely be a more in depth story to go over it once his season ends. Just looking at the end of this season and what's ahead for the veteran, it will be a tough run. Vancouver is currently tied up in a battle with the DC Dragons for the 3rd seed. The winner of that battle may not matter all that much, just looking at the playoff matchups for either seed. DC and Vancouver will have to play one of Calgary or Chicago, the two best teams in the league. A tall task for either team. However for Vancouver it's not impossible, especially seeing the amount of star power Vancouver has. Led by the superstars Alexandre Leduc and mid-season acquisition Sergey Preobrazhensky, with elite defensemen Biggie Cheese and Pierre Emile Bouchard holding the blue line strong, and anchored by the talented Brandt Fuhr in the crease, along with some great offensive depth and veterans like Carter, the Wolves have a very strong team, and should be able to put together a solid fight when the playoffs start. Will they be able to win? That question will be answered soon, but if Vancouver continues to win and hit their stride late season, all that needs to be done is to ride the lightning into the playoffs. For Donny Carter, it's the last chance for a cup, and there's no doubt he's going to give it his all.
