jacobcarson877 2,563
Well the first week is well underway and it has been a very interesting one to say the least. San Diego got off to an 8-0 start before dropping 2 straight games and then going 1-0-1 to bring our current record to 9-2-1. Somehow the entire league is at that pace though because despite this we are sitting 3rd in the standings. The defense (outside of one very weird 9-7 win over Halifax) has been outstanding, and the scoring has been exactly good enough. There is still a lot of growth to be had over the next couple of weeks for our forwards and they seem eager to take on the challenge. It is nice to see all of the lines rolling pretty well, and having everyone have at least some amount of success. I wish there was more I could do for them, with the lines working and the roster full it feels a bit like I’m just sitting back and watching a well-oiled machine running perfectly. The Discord is chatty, players are earning and the points are coming for the most part. Should be a pretty good season, but part of me does miss the days where I felt like I was fighting for every point. Calgary however has gotten off to a rockier start. We’ve had a pretty brutal schedule to start, but it would have been nice to walk away with a few more points to start the season. We followed a very logical approach to assembling lines to start this season, but apparently that wasn’t the key to the offense. I have returned to working with Janser, and Leandro has been doing great solo. Very funny that Landon and Leandro haven’t figured it out yet, but so long as this configuration keeps working, no real complaints. Landon has a lot of work to do if he hopes to improve on last season’s total, and he’ll need to be a lot more consistent. He has quite a few multi-point appearances so far, but lacks game-to-game consistency. There’s really not much more I can add to Landon, so it would be pretty sad if all he is is a point per game player. I’m already shooting 6%, 2nd in the league in shots but no where near the board in goals. It is incredibly strange that I continue to shoot so poorly, and apparently had the most of my shots blocked last season. I keep getting reassured that all shots are in fact created equal in STHS, and that shooting doesn’t have a variable danger level, so I suppose I just have to hope one of these seasons I can have a good shooting percentage? I mean all it takes is a few multi-goal games to get back on track but the fact that I’ve opened the season once again so hot on the shot clock but so cold on the scoreboard is strange. Feels quite strange now that I’m at max build, and I meant to leave my tasks until later in the week since there really is no rush to get anything in, but here we are again.
