Rookie Wranglers Heating Up

CALGARY - When you think of the Calgary Wranglers, it's easy to think of established stars such as reigning VHL MVP Daniel Janser, Landon Wolanin, or Leandro Goncalves. However, General Manager Kris Rice is depending on two rookie forwards to back them up and provide crucial secondary scoring to keep Calgary rolling up to the top of the North American Conference.

 

 

Larry Abass Jr @RileyL has been among the VHL rookie leaders in points virtually the entire season thus far, with 18 points through 25 games so far. After scoring 100 points with the Vasteras Iron Eagles in Season 86, Abass Jr's scoring touch has carried over nicely to the pros, with ten goals, second amongst all VHL rookies. From the get-go, he has risen to the challenge and answered the call from Rice.

 

 

For Vincent Laroche-Gagnier @vincentlg2007, however, it didn’t start that way, however. It took time for him to record his first VHL point, and even longer to record his first VHL goal. However, despite making light of his struggles, Laroche-Gagnier has suddenly gotten red-hot for Calgary. His twelve points may not seem like much, but the vast majority of them have come within the last ten games he has played. After struggling to record his first goal, he now has five of them.

 

It seems as if what these rookies needed to excel was simply confidence, and if they have gained it, the Wranglers will be a dangerous opponent for any team this season.
