Bojovnik 487
MOSCOW, March 13, 2023 (Shaiba.ru) – The Seattle Bears are on the brink of elimination. The fairytale run, which saw the Washington side upset both the Chicago Phoenix and Vancouver Wolves in the first two rounds of the playoffs, could be coming to a close after the Bears dropped Game 5 of their Conference Final series with the Calgary Wranglers in a high-scoring affair. The Bears went into Game 5 full of confidence after a hard-fought 4-2 victory in Game 4. However, any hopes of recording a second win in a row were dashed as the US-based side took five penalties. This ill-disciple cost them dearly, as the Wranglers’ dangerous powerplay scored twice to give the Alberta side the victory. The pain of losing was felt all the more in the Bears locker room given the fact that Seattle were 3-0 up after just 14 minutes. “To get such a good start and to then throw it away is super disappointing. We came out great in the first period and worked so hard to get the lead. We’re going to have to go back to the drawing board for Game 6. The good thing is that it’ll be at home rink. We’ll have the full support of our fans and I’m sure that they can help us to victory. It’s been a great run so far, but we’re not happy. We don’t want to go out at this stage, when we know that we have a right to be here, that we deserve to be here,” Seattle Bears forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev said following Sunday night’s game. The current playoffs have been something of a breakout for Bogatyrev, who played the best hockey of his career in the five-game Conference Semi-Final series against the Vancouver Wolves. The Nizhnii Tagil native currently has 13 points in 15 postseason games, including four goals – one of them a gamewinner. “It’s been nice to finally make a contribution. It’s no secret that it’s been a super tough two seasons for me. I’ve been trying everything to get things better, and to see my efforts finally coming to fruition is very rewarding. The most important thing, however, is that the team is in a position to be contending. I think the way that we’ve come together, the team work that we’ve shown through this run so far, has been fantastic. Even if this is not our year, I think we’re laying the foundation for something great going ahead,” Bogatyrev said. The Bears and the Wranglers face off on Monday in what could be the final game of the Seattle team’s season. Should the Bears win, they go into the Continental Cup final to face the winner of the HC Davos Dynamo and Malmo Nighthawks series. Should they lose, attention will turn to the offseason. During the break, many are expecting the Bears and Bogatyrev to sit down and potentially discuss an extension to his ELC that expires at the end of S88. For now, Bogatyrev declined to answer any questions related to his immediate and long-term future.
