The Las Vegas Aces are just about through a quarter of S88 and they find themselves near the bottom of the Western Conference with a middling record of 10-9-3. Despite being in second to last place in the conference, the team only sits 6 points behind the first place Mexico City Kings, so there is an opportunity to make up some significant ground in the early season playoff picture.

First year forward and S89 draft prospect Zyn Westwood has had a humbling start to his VHLM career. The former all-American college hockey player had 1 goal and 1 assists through his first 10 VHLM games and has since totaled 4 goals and 4 assists in his 18 total games. While these aren’t the most impressive personal stats, Westwood feels like he is turning a corner.

Quote

“The first ten games or so were a big learning curve for me. The game is faster and the players are stronger here in the VHLM. I was not happy with my start and did not feel like I was helping the team much in the offensive zone. It is starting to click though, I am being rewarded with more minutes and starting to see the puck go in the back of the net a bit more. I have a lot of work to do, but I am confident I can turn this around and help the team win games.”
