Hello Europe! After a solid season in the VHLM and a stellar performance in the JST, Slater has touched down in Oslo to play for the Oslo Storm in S88. Slater, who was drafted 7th overall in the VHLE, was excited for the opportunity to play for Oslo. She had previously played for the Houston Bulls in the VHLM where she was one of two Assistant Captains. She also played for The Brigade in the offseason and helped the team win the tournament. Slater dominated the JST as a lead Defenseman with 5-G, 15-A for 20 -P. After her stats in the JST, Slater was eager to prove herself still worthy and a top player in the VHLE.

Unfortunately the first few games in the VHLE for Slater were slow due to her skill level. She was up against opponents who had far more experience than her and she didn’t quite feel like she was able to show her new team her competitive side. Thanks to the help of her Oslo Storm GM she was able to rework her skills and put them to use in a way that would quickly turn the games around for her. We’re about a third of the way through S88 and Slater’s improvements are already showing on the ice. With assists and a few goals under her belt she is keen to keep improving this season.

So far Slater’s been enjoying her time on the Oslo Storm. She’s got a fantastic GM whose guidance has been invaluable, an AGM who is actively supporting the team and teammates who are just as keen to bring the cup back to Oslo. Slater was announced as one of the two Assistant Captains for Oslo which was exciting! The LR has been a positive place for the team to get together and support each other. The games for Oslo Storm are picking up as each game passes and the team is steadily picking up points. Making it to the Playoffs seems doable for the team at the moment as their momentum continues to grow. As Slater continues throughout the season she hopes to be able to bring up her defense skills and be able to get more goals and assists during games. Slater plans to max earn weekly to continue to bring her game up to speed and stay competitive. Hopefully she’s able to continue to see growth as she gains experience. There are some amazing offensive defensemen in the league and Slater is targeting to become one of them!
