Fradin McGryer was seen taking the ice as the top pairing today in warmups alongside explosive waiver pickup Walter Fitzroy Jr. The Alternate Captain has played the last ten or so games on the second pairing and had begun to see a decline in his physical and offensive presence. Getting a glimpse of the warmup lines it seems they hope he can shake off the rust and return to his wrecking ball like form as the team readies for the playoffs.

Fitzroy Jr. has eleven points in his fourteen games with the Marlins. Slotting in nicely alongside their leading offensive defenseman Marty Byrd, the coaching staff hopes he'll be able to pick up more of the offensive responsibility now that he's to be paired with the team's defensive cornerstone and number one shutdown man. An important note for McGryer despite his step back offensively, he still leads defensemen in assists at forty-five, which also places him at second on the team. Giving him more ice time with VHLM Goal frontrunner Sjin could lead the Marlins to an explosive finish of the regular season to earn them the top overall seed. It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it plays out for San Diego.
