We recently caught up with Indian VHL prospect Shubham Anand at the Junior Showcase Tournament. We asked the rising star about his thoughts on his Steel teammates, the JTS as a whole, his future in the VHLE, and his other off season activities. This is everything Shubham had to tell us.

How have you enjoyed the Junior Showcase Tournament so far? How do you feel about your performance so far?

It has been a wonderful time. My teammates have been amazing. The Steel have proven themselves to be the team to beat in this tournament. The GMs have been fantastic, always being helpful or making thing light. I kinda want to be scoring goals a bit more consistently, but I can't argue against something that is clearly working.

The foward line that you are a part of has worked so well that all three members are also top 3 in points produced in the JST. Many people are starting to call this line, "The Cannonball Line." Why do you think this line has been so effective in the tournament?

My line mate, (Viktor Jensen and David Rashford) are very much specialists. Vik can dangle through just about any defense and Dave simply has the best slap shot I have ever seen. I am more of a jack of all trades. I might not be as effective at shooting or dangling as my mates, but I can do both effectively enough for this tournament. I am essentially the glue between that keeps my teammates together.

We have also heard that you have become skilled enough that you will be playing in the VHLE next season. How do you feel about jumping up to the next level and what do you hope to achieve in the VHLE?

I had a great season in the VHLM. I have grown so quickly in my time with the San Diego Marlins. I feel I am ready for VHLE play. It was already a massive change leaving home to pursue my dream. I will go wherever I much to chase that dream. I can't wait to find out where I go next. I just hope to continue to play as well as I have so far.

What other plans do you have for this offseason? I heard you talking about playing more hockey. Can you explain more about that? Also rumors have it that you and those in your family have made some big purchases. Are the rumors true and what are these purchases for?

I have joined an unofficial ProAm with players ranging from VHL stars to Juniors such as myself. All the teams have been drafted and I am playing for the Maui Stingrays and I hope to further prove myself to more VHL GMs . As for the rumors, they are true. I have been preparing to launch a startup for the entire season. I should be ready to unveil it possibly as soon as next week.

Interesting. That is all of the questions that I have for you today. Good luck in the JST and beyond.

Thanks. Nice talking with you.
