McGryer Finds His Stride

Fradin McGryer was traded by Vasteras to Geneva after just his second game of the VHLE season. Since then, he's put out statements of how excited he was to play for the Rush and his promise to keep up his play. So far, he hasn't broken out into stardom but he's been nothing but reliable in his word. The young defender holds 14 points in 16 games, to include 4 goals on the powerplay. Something we saw his work payout on in the JST in the offseason. His physical play has only improved since the M, leading the league in hits with 65 and holding a top 5 spot in blocked shots with 39. Penalties for the Massachusetts native have taken a severe drop, no longer constantly leading the weekly standings in them, although it's doubtful he'll ever be below the top ten.

With McGryer seeming to get along well with his line mates, it seems Geneva won out the early trade. Fradin leads his team in powerplay goals on an electric man advantage leading the league at 27%. Being able to combine this with his physical play should keep fans excited for the playoffs. Certainly this is also a player Calgary fans should be keeping their eye on, at this rate he could join their ranks as early as next season.
