Fans of the Seattle Bears could breathe a little easier last week after the club announced that it had put pen to paper with star forward Yaroslav Bogatyrev on a one-season contract extension that will see the Nizhnii Tagil native remain with the club through S90.

Ahead of last week’s trade deadline, rumours started to circulate on social media that Bogatyrev would look to leave the team as a free agent eyeing a move back to Europe.

However, positive conversations were had between the Bears and Bogatyrev’s representatives, resulting in the latter agreeing to prolong his stay with the team that drafted him.

Bogatyrev has been one of the most impressive performers for the Seattle Bears this season. He is currently the team’s second-top scorer, having 58 points through 48 games. Bogatyrev is well on track to register career highs in points, hits, and game-winning goals this season.

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract with the Seattle Bears,” Bogatyrev wrote on Instagram on Sunday.

“It’s been a great experience playing with the team so far, and I’m optimistic that the team will continue to be a contender this season and next. I’m still enjoying it here, and let’s go win the cup,” he added.
