The Cologne Express wrapped up their season 89 in pretty good shape finishing third in the VHLE with 95 points. They trailed only Geneva Rush who had 96 and Istanbul Red Wolves who had a strong 105 points. While finishing third, the Express was first in goals for with 268 and second in goal differential with 82 (Istanbul had a differential of 88).

While the Express had a lot of excellent showings from players as far as points go, they were led by two defencemen. Sigma Freud scored 94 points in 77 games (and led all VHLE defencemen in points) and Cameron Elsby had 87 also in 77 games. That 87 points was tied with Thor Odinson the top scoring forward on Cologne. Elsby and Freud were both tied for the most powerplay goals in the VHLE as well with 14.

Even with the high scoring on the team, I'd have to give my team most valuable player nod to goalie Justin Lion who had a pretty strong season himself. He finished with a goals against average of 2.19 (third in the VHLE) and a save percentage of .929 and led the VHLE in shutouts with 6.

Next up, the Express will face Geneva Rush in the playoffs!
