One week ago, the VHL’s social media channels went into overdrive following news that Yaroslav Bogatyrev, star forward of the Seattle Bears, had left practice nursing an upper-body injury. His representatives later confirmed that the Nizhnii Tagil native was sent to hospital for preliminary checks, and left in a sling.

After missing practice, Bogatyrev returned to the ice on Sunday as the Bears get prepared for their Conference Semi-Final clash as the VHL postseason gets underway.

“I took a hard fall during a battle in the corner. Sure I was a little banged up, but the medical team did a great job and I’m already feeling really good out there. I have no concerns over this injury, and I feel like I’m 100% ready to go for the playoffs. I’m looking forward to finally getting started, as this wait always sucks,” Bogatyrev said.

The Russian forward was referring to the wait that the top seeds have while the VHL play-ins take place. By virtue of finishing top of the North American Conference, the Bears will face the winner of the New York Americans and the Los Angeles Stars. The New York side currently has a stranglehold of the series, after winning the first two games.
