Who will be the shining star in London this season?

With the departure of dynamic offensive defender Siyan Yasilievich to Free Agency this offseason, the London United are once again left to fill a hole in their defensive core. With The Board Game Clue On Skates aging, and the forward group hitting their final strides as well, this could be one final opportunity for a prime defender to get one last shot at a championship.

Rumours have been swirling around several players this season, with another tight cap crunch. Many fans are questioning some of the finals seasons of contracts signed many seasons ago, as we are watching several core players struggle to keep up against the test of time. What direction will GM Jacob Carson take? Is London going to continue to buy? Or are they finally going to transition themselves into a new era? There is a lot to decide for the franchise, and without any top picks this season, will the team opt to delay their future, or start selling off their core?

The team seems set to compete once again this season, but with the disappointing playoff performance just a few weeks ago, someone might be on the hotseat.

Calgary star Landon Wolanin has not yet found a new home, and with the GM carousel complete in the VHL, there may be new players in the game. Chicago is starting fresh, with many retirements and declining players, and next to no prospects. It does not seem likely that Landon Wolanin would find a home there, but has stated that he would be intrigued to be a part of that franchise in the coming seasons.

Helsinki however is a team on the rise, and there was a deal rumoured to be very close to completion before the prior GM’s resignation. Perhaps Calgary and Helsinki can find a way to rekindle what has been a very regular and often mutually beneficial trade arrangement.

Either way, the question is whether Landon Wolanin can truly come back from a down season. Fitness has been a concern, and his body has taken a lot of hits over the seasons. Can teams truly rely on him to be a top offensive player?

The San Diego Marlins have done it again! It took a mere 3 season gap for the Marlins to raise the cup once more, with a couple players raising it for the second time. The last decade has been enormous for the Marlins franchise, and they have been receiving a lot of funding from local entrepreneurs and past players, allowing for a world class training program and alumni network. It appears as though those resources will have to be tested soon however, as winning a championship takes a toll on the talent base, and it is once more time to take on the draft board and try to outmanoeuvre the other GMs and win some extra value. The Marlins have been deadly drafters for some time now, and they are taking extra care this season to make sure they have the talent to raise another banner to the rafters.
