N0HBDY 1,119
I really like this season’s theme week topic, gives me some hope that the commissioners mindset is finally heading in the right direction. I’m also glad that I now have a doc in my google drive that will be titled “FISTED ANALLY” till the end of time, pray no one ever goes through my drive. Anyways theme week, throughout my tender in the VHL (coming up on 3 years holy) I haven’t been one to cause any big scenes. I mean where I, N0HBDY, explicitly go out and start and argument so trivia doesn’t count. Let’s look back now, it’s season 86, legendary goaltender Cole Pearce is in the prime of his career, Chicago is an absolute powerhouse in the NA conference behind Calgary. Cole is putting in WORK and making his already impressive stats (by our real life standards) even better. It’s the season of his career. 64 games played, 43-18-3 record, 0.933 save percentage, 2.05 GAA, 6 shutouts, and 132 total goals against (almost 30 less than the season before). Anyways season is over with now, Chicago takes the 2 seed in playoffs and beats DC in a dramatic game 7 fashion. Move on to lose to eventual cup champions the Vancouver Wolves in another dramatic 7 game showdown. Overall a solid playoff performance as well with a .93 even save percentage and a slightly higher 2.61 GAA. Now as a warning I don’t know if I can stop the urge to use caps lock at some parts of the upcoming story, 4 seasons later I’m still very much sensitive on it. Awards time, Cole is nominated for the Funke (Most Improved), Shaw (Top Goaltender), and Slobo (Most Outstanding). Cole misses out on the Funke to Girts Galvins, a Warsaw Predator then represent! Cole SOMEHOW misses out on the Shaw, we’ll get into that in a bit, to Seattle goalie Dusty Wilson, and then Cole also misses out on the Slobo award which is a given because fucking Daniel Janser dropped an unhuman 120 points. I was there watching the awards live and already livid up to that point, then as an extra slap to the face Cole was named all 2nd-team behind guess who, the man who possibly (he did) robbed Cole of the Shaw, DUSTY WILSON. But don’t worry everyone Cole did come out of the season with one award, BY DEFAULT, the Greg Clegan award (lowest reg season GAA). These motherfuckers took away any and all awards/honors they could from Cole, because lets be honest 2nd team is a god damn joke when you probably should’ve gotten 1st. So HOW did Dusty “steal” these awards is what you’re probably asking, and we’ll pull out the stats comparison: Cole Pearce: 64 GP, 43-18-3, 0.933SV%, 2.05GAA, 6 Shutouts, 132GA, 1973 Shots faced Dusty Wilson: 63 GP, 30-29-3, 0.934SV%, 2.22GAA, 9 Shutouts, 139GA, 2098 Shots faced Each goaltender bested the other in alternate categories, which I must give props to my opponent because it surely doesn’t seem like an easy decision to decide who in the best. Unfortunately from what I interpreted from the BOG’s thought process, the record means fuckall because that’s more team than player, SV% is a serious consideration of the goalies talents, GAA is similar to overall record (fuckall), shutouts being a ‘serious’ category, and I don’t know if I ever got the last details for GA and shots faced but ya you get the gist. Any stat Cole was proficient and better than Dusty in, meant nothing, as well as the fact that Dusty supporters were crediting Dusty for dragging Seattle into the playoffs that season (got swept 3-0 in WC round). So anyways that’s my FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY spiel, I mainly blame spartan, and don’t know why co-winners wasn’t considered either, fuck bog. 629 words Daniel Janser 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/140545-pearce-v-wilson-s86/ Share on other sites
