Encarnacion fights his way into top 10 in PIMs

Recommended Posts

Despite having a pretty poor season by his accounts, Edwin Encarnacion was relieved to learn this week that he had clawed his way into the top 10 in penalty minutes for the first time of this season. While the title of this piece may suggest that he achieved this through a higher work ethic, and that is technically true, it actually has a second meaning to it in that Edwin has literally been fighting other players to get into the top 10. If Edwin can take one positive from this season, it’s that his fights have seen him actually beat his opposition, as he is currently two for two in fights, as opposed to the many tied fights that he took part in previous seasons that saw brawls end up in a garbled mess.

With just a few games to go in the VHL’s 40th season, Encarnacion’s 6th, he has put up 1271 total PIMs, which places him within the top ten in the all-time PIM standings. While he isn’t expected to rise any higher in these standings prior to the end of the season, you can expect Edwin to make dramatic changes in his philosophy to make sure he racks up as many PIMs as possible by the end of his career.
