As we head into the final week of the VHL season – the duo Mac Atlas and Jimi Jax can look back and be proud of their accomplishments from the past season.

While neither player is amongst the league leaders in statistics, both are spearheading the incredibly consistent score-by-committee playstyle the Legion have implemented all season. After a tough start to the season which saw the Legion sitting 2nd last in the conference for an uncomfortable amount of time, the system clicked in and saw the team put together wins over the latter two thirds of S90 which included a 13-0 winning streak.

“It honestly did not feel like that many games – we were just committing to playing the way we wanted to, and it eventually paid off” said Jax after practice on Saturday.

“This is the way we want to win games – we don’t need to rack up points, just play a team game. We think this style translates well in the tight checking games you see in the playoffs”.

After a disappointing end to a stacked team last season – Jax says there’s no lessons to learn. “It’s a tough league – we just gotta keep playing our game hopefully with some luck it pays off”.
