jacobcarson877 2,559
What is Jillian Woods? Well currently nothing. Right now she is 0 TPA, and this maybe be one of the last times we ever see her so raw, and so unformed. This is not about what she is, but about what she could be. Before she turns her efforts towards anything, she is everything. The first thing she will be is small. Shorter and lighter. Perhaps this means she will skate particularly well. Perhaps this means that she will slide smoothly between the burly bruisers that threaten her puck possession. Perhaps she will use her lower center of gravity to punish players at their hips, or sneak under their sticks to thieve their precious puck. Perhaps this means she will be tossed aside by the first menacing monster she encounters. We have yet to see what will be a pro, or a con. She will train hard. Will this manifest in strength? Will it manifest in vision? We have yet to know, but we do know that she will train hard. Harder than anyone else in the competition. That is certainly a pro, so long as her training manifests into something positive, cohesive and conveniently or coincidentally capable of turning the tides of competition. Will she break games, or will the games break her? We have yet to know, and uncertainty is not something teams often build around. She will be different. In what ways? We have yet to know. When will these differences become apparent? We also have yet to know. She will likely lurk in the shadows, placing herself in the same places as her peers, pretending to follow their path before breaking loose. You may not know what her secret is in the minors, or in Europe. You may not even know in her early VHL career. But you will know when all is said and done. Is that a pro or a con? We have yet to know. It is likely both, and the weight of each is the real question. So her pros are that she will work hard, sneak around, and be something special. It will be up to fate to determine how that manifests, and how many cons will haunt her, on her quest to be the best defender of an era. So to those scouting, you’ll have to let time do its magic. You’ll have to see what happens, and how it could affect you negatively or positively. Sometimes things are only measurable when they are observed.
