Reporter: Congratulations, Dorji for being drafted 24th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen in the VHLE and 22 overall by the Toronto Legion in the VHL. How did you feel when you seen your name come out?
Dorji Khan: The feeling was incredible. Ever since I was a young boy in Mongolia, I dreamed of this moment. I didn’t know if I was going to come out early or come out late. I had spoken with a variety of GMs who showed interest so I was pretty hopeful that I had impressed at least one of them enough to draft me.
Reporter: How do you feel about being drafted by the Bratislava Watchmen?
Dorji Khan: It came to me as a surprise. I didn’t have any interview with the team but after being drafted, the GM who welcomed me to the team and also explained that he didn’t think I was going to be available at their draft position so didn’t do any pre-draft interviews with me.
Reporter: How does it feel to be drafted by the Toronto Legion?
Dorji Khan: Being drafted by the Toronto Legion is a dream come true. I’ve worked hard for this moment, and it’s surreal to see it all come to fruition. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the organization! The kid in me was more than ecstatic to finally be on my way to the big leagues.
Reporter: Were you expecting to be picked by the Legion?
Dorji Khan: They had showed interest and I was definitely interested in joining them .I was hopeful, but you never know with drafts. I’m just grateful for the opportunity and excited about the future with the Legion.
Reporter: What do you think you can bring to these teams?
Dorji Khan: I believe I can bring a lot of energy and a fresh perspective to the team. I’m ready to learn from the experienced players and coaches and contribute my skills to help the whichever team achieve great success in the future.
Reporter: What’s the first thing you’re going to do as a member of these teams?
Dorji Khan: First things first, I am going back to the VHLM to Halifax for the upcoming season. We have a good team and hopefully we can fight to win the Founders cup. We came so close last year. We lost some notable players who will join their respective teams after being drafted. We still have a solid core and drafted upcoming talented players who will help us stay strong and ready to compete with any team.
Reporter: Any message for your supporters and fans out there?
Dorji Khan: To Halifax fans, get ready for a great season. I am more than happy to be back for one more season and excited to see you all at the arena! To the Watchmen fans, I’ll see you guys next year. I’ll be stronger and ready to go to war for my new team. To all the Legion fans, I’m thrilled to be part of this amazing organization . I promise to give my all on the ice and help bring home victories and hopefully a Championship!
